Our 2016 wedding season got off to an early start with Ashley and Tom’s wedding. Missouri weather is every bit fickle in January as it is any other time of the year. The days leading up to Tom and Ashley’s wedding were almost 25 degrees warmer than average but come wedding day, it was colder than average. But the chill didn’t put a damper on anyone’s spirits as the sun was shinning and love was in the air!
Our day began with Ashley and her bridesmaids getting their hair done at The Clip Joint South in Columbia. After hair and makeup were finished, it was off to The Club at Old Hawthorne. We haven’t photographed many weddings at The Club at Old Hawthorne but it is such a wonderful venue in town. The decor is gorgeous and there is so much natural light. Courtney Thompson of Courtney Thompson Photography joined us to help capture every angle and every moment of the day. She was such a great addition when we did Tom and Ashley’s first look. There is something wonderful about having two photographers take in every glance, smile, and kiss of the first look. Tom’s face when he turned around to see Ashley for the first time says it all – pure love and excitement.
After the first look and Ashley dad seeing her in her wedding dress, we headed outside for some portraits. I love the simple faux fur stole accessory that Ashley gave her bridesmaids. So stylish, yet practical! Once we finished up the portraits, we made our way to Missouri United Methodist Church for the ceremony. This church always holds a special place in our hearts as this is where we were married a few years ago and the class beauty of the church cannot be rivaled. The ceremony was touching filled with love and a bit of laughter when Tom’s best man “lost” the rings! Ashley’s face at that moment is priceless.
The night ended with the reception out at The Club at Old Hawthorne where every place setting featured a Moscow Mule mug for guests to take home as a wedding favor. Front and center on display when guests walked into the ballroom was an absolutely gorgeous cake by Edith Hall Cakes. The simple gold bands paired with the lattice work on the bottom layer was elegant. Once the cake was cut, dinner was served, and Tom and Ashley danced their first dance, it was time party! The dance floor was hopping all night and guests had a wonderful time celebrating the new Mr. & Mrs. Sandifer.
Thank you, Tom and Ashley, for allowing us to be part of your special day. It was such a joy and pleasure capturing all the big moments of the day, as well as all the little memories in between. We hope you love your photos. Cheers! Justin & Piper
