I’ve already wax poetically in Michelle and Jared’s engagement session blog post from last fall about how much we loved the connection of Michelle to our past bride, Rachel. Spoiled alert (if you haven’t read the blog post), Michelle is Rachel’s sister! I’ll say it once more, there is no better compliment than a referral, especially when that referral comes from a family member. After Michelle and Jared’s picture perfect fall session, we knew that their wedding day would blow our mind. And they did not disappoint.
We started the wedding day at the most charming, quaint church in Flint Hills, Missouri. We’ve had the privilege of photographing weddings in so many Mid-Missouri churches and St. Theodore Catholic Church was darling. Michelle and her bridesmaids got mostly ready at a family member’s house, so when they got to the church all we had to do was focus on Michelle’s final touches. I don’t know if you know this about me but I am wedding photography detail junky! I love all the little things brides incorporate in their day. And I love taking the time to put all those details together so we can photograph them. Michelle had no shortage of amazing details. Check out those blue shoes! So, that sister who referred us to Michelle? Yeah, Rachel couldn’t be there to celebrate with the family. She was busy waiting to welcome her third child into this world! So, we tried our hardest to keep Rachel included in as many things as possible. This included a bit of Facetime when Michelle was in her dress! Though she wasn’t there in person, Rachel was there in spirit via technology!
Once everyone was ready to, we headed over to the chapel for the ceremony. Though the church wasn’t big, it was filled to the brim with love for Michelle and Jared. Their priest had a lovely homily that talked about the commitment that these two have for one another. And as they were surround by loved ones, they became man and wife. Some of my favorite photos are from Michelle and Jared taking a moment by themselves following the ceremony. Guests gave them a few moments to soak in being a married couple and to enjoy the quietness before we started in on portraits.
Here’s the thing about this wedding day – it was hot. Like, beyond hot. You walked outside and immediately started sweating. We tried our hardest to not do too many pictures outside if we could help it. After a few portraits at the church, we headed to Boulevard Park in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri. Luckily we didn’t have to go far to find a little walking bridge and a pond with some trees for shade! Michelle and Jared were pros. We moved through the outdoor photos with efficiency and ease.
We escaped the heat with the reception at The Loft Banquet Center in O’Fallon, Missouri. This relatively new banquet center is a perfect spot for a reception. It’s a simple space, just waiting for a couple to put on their own touches. Check out their cake topper! Michelle designed it and I think it was such a special touch on their wedding day. Though the décor wasn’t super elaborate, Michelle and Jared did a nice job focusing on what matters – good food, a great DJ, and a photo booth! Their family and friends kept our photo booth and the dance floor busy all night long! All in all it was a spectacular day.
Thank you, Michelle and Jared, for trusting us to capture all the memories from such an important day. We loved being part of the family once again.
