I am the staff photographer for the Fulton Sun, a 5,000-circulation paper published five days a week. I cover a wide variety of assignments throughout Callaway County in Mid-Missouri. As the only photographer I do it all from setting up assignments to editing and preparing images for press. It has been a great learning experience and has reinforced my love of photojournalism and community journalism. I started photography during my junior year of high school in Normal, Illinois as the photo editor for the student publications at University High School. I was hooked and knew photography and journalism was what I wanted to do with my life. From there I continued my education at the University of Missouri graduating in May 2006 with a photojournalism degree. I interned with the Jackson Citizen Patriot in Jackson, Michigan during the fall of 2004. It was a great experience and I enjoyed telling the stories of the community I lived in. After interning in Michigan I came back to Columbia and was a photographer and photo editor with the Columbia Missourian. During my senior year I started shooting for the Missouri Sports Information Department, which gave me a great opportunity to photograph my favorite subject, sports. In my free time I have I enjoy the outdoors, swimming and mountain biking. I am also a PADI certified SCUBA diver. Please visit my Sportsshooter.com page. |
