Columbia MO Wedding Photography Bride and father having fun walking down aisle

Fun – Documentary – Personal. Those three words would describe the style of J. Kelley Photography. As a former newspaper photographer, I take a very photojournalistic approach to your wedding. I am concerned and focused on photographing the little details of your wedding day you might miss. You two have spent so much time planning your wedding; I want to ensure I capture all that you worked so hard on envisioning. A photojournalistic style also allows me to take an unobtrusive and intimate approach to your special day. Throughout your wedding day I will step back and let the day unfold, quietly capturing all the tender, loving moments you and your guests’ experience. I won’t interrupt a moment or pose situations that are already so magical on their own.

Engagement sessions are laid back, relaxing and a lot of fun. Our sessions last about two hours and can cover two to three locations. We suggest a change of clothes to get a variety of looks. Engagement sessions are the perfect opportunity for us to work with each other before your big day. Feel free to bring props such as a guitar, signs, balloons, your dog, a picnic basket or anything that expresses your personality. Engagement sessions include an online gallery and flash drive of images.

All of our packages include a flash drive of high resolution, ready to print JPG files with a personal print release. What can you do with the files? You can make as many prints as you would like, announcements, use the pictures on your Christmas card, or thank you’s, you can use them for just about anything but selling, entering your photos into any contests or passing them onto a third party.

You will also receive a low resolution version of all of the images on your flash drive. These files have all been prepared for emailing and internet purposes. We just ask that you keep the watermark on the pictures before you upload them to your blog, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or anywhere else you might post the photos.

First look photographs are when a bride and groom have a quiet and intimate moment with just the two of them before the ceremony on their wedding day. We’re big fans of doing first looks photographs because it allows us to document that special time when you first see each other. First look photographs usually produce some of our favorite pictures from your wedding day. Be sure to check out our first look advice blog post to learn about the advantages of a first look on your wedding day.

We love your style but would love to have some traditional portraits. Is this something you do?Absolutely. We believe that traditional portraits are an important part of a wedding day. While we strive to capture the candid, intimate moments of your wedding, we also know that couples still want the heirlooms that family portraits create. The “standard” family portraits are an important part of your day but it’s just a place to start. After that, let the creative and fun portraits happen!

How do we book our wedding? We book weddings on a first come first serve basis. A deposit of $500 is required to reserve your date. The final balance is due within 10 days of your wedding.

How many pictures will I get on our flash drive? A 15-minute ceremony during a wedding day with 6 hours of coverage will certainly produce less images than a 45 minute ceremony from a wedding day with 10 hours of coverage. So, really the number of photos delivered depends on the hours of coverage, number of guests, how many portraits we take, reception style, etc.

Do you take family and group photos? Family and group photos are an important part of documenting any wedding and are cherished for family history. We try to move through the group photos as quickly and efficiently as possible, as this gives us plenty of time to move on to more creative portraits with the bride, groom, and the rest of the bridal party.
