Many times when the initial meeting with clients happen, it’s only Justin meeting with them. I don’t generally meet clients (if at all) until the wedding day. With Rachel and Trever I fell in love with them after their engagement session this past winter. Having never met them, I couldn’t wait for their beautiful outdoor wedding in Columbia, Missouri. Their wedding was so full of little details and surprises, it was a joy to be part of it.
The day started off at one of our favorite outdoor venues in Columbia, the Columbia Country Club. Both Rachel and Trever opted to get ready on site, which was great because the club not only offers a multitude of absolutely gorgeous portrait locations but great getting ready spaces as well. I love the moment in which Rachel’s bridesmaids see her in her gown for the very first time! Be sure to pay special attention to Rachel’s ah-mazing dress. When Rachel said in our pre-wedding communication that she wanted pictures of the back of her dress, I had no idea what to expect. When I saw it in person, I was blow away. The bead work and detailing was to die for.
Once everyone was ready, it was time for the first look. As is the case with pretty much every Missouri outdoor wedding, weather can be very finicky. The first look and beginning of portraits were met with this huge gray cloud hanging low in the sky but then as we wrapped up portraits and headed back to the club, the sun came shinning through. We made a quick stop before the ceremony at the photo booth where Trever had a little surprise in store. Rachel is a huge ‘Friends’ fan (a girl after my own heart!) and as a wedding day surprise, he collaborated with us to put together a ‘Friends’ themed booth. Rachel knew the photo booth would be there but she had no idea of the theme. To say she was shocked is an understatement!
With the weather cooperating, it was time for the ceremony. There are so many outdoor wedding spaces at CCC to choose from. Rachel and Trever decided on a space where they could keep it simple. Standing under a simply decorated arbor, they declared their love and vows while surrounded by their family and friends. One of my all time favorite ceremony pictures is the one of all of Rachel’s bridesmaids in tears as Rachel repeats her vows. That kind of emotion is what makes a wedding special and personal. After the ceremony, it was time for some portraits of just the bride and groom. We had a great time exploring the CCC golf course with its beautiful spaces. While Justin was off with the happy couple, second photographer Courtney Thompson headed to the reception space to document the lovely work done by one of our favorite Columbia wedding planners, Anne Churchill of Annabelle Events.
Trever is a graphic designer, so he worked really hard to create a wedding day brand. There was a theme, a brand board, and a personalized logo. All these little details really came together with Anne’s guidance and presented such a lovely space. Interspersed throughout their vineyard themed reception were touches of ‘Friends’ references. Bonus points if you get the reference behind Rachel and Trever’s “cake” topper! After the cutting of the stacked pie from local Columbia favorite, Peggy Jean’s Pies, toasts and the first dance, it was time to get the party started. This couple had a large contingent of friends who were ready and able to keep the dance floor jumping all night. Dancers periodically took a break to hop into the most awesome photo booth ever and take their own ‘Friends’ themed photos! Be sure to check out the all of the friends themed photo booth pictures.
Thank you, Rachel and Trever, for letting us help capture all the moments, details, and memories of your wedding day. Your day did not disappoint and it was such a pleasure to be part of it. We hope you enjoy the photos and that you never have to say pi-VOT! in your marriage!
Cheers! Piper & Justin
