When you’re photographing a wedding in June, in Missouri – you worry about the weather. But Tara and Josh couldn’t have asked for a better day for their Columbia, MO wedding. Our day started with the bridal party getting their hair and make-up done at The Marc Salon before heading to the church where everyone finished up getting ready.
Missouri United Methodist Church’s classic look is always a pleasure to photograph in. The sanctuary is bathed in warm light filtering through the stained glass windows that provides such a lovely backdrop for a ceremony. Not only do we love weddings in this church because it’s where we were married, but also because its classic beauty only needs minimal decoration. This allows guests to really focus on the words being spoken and to surround the couple with love.
When you’re this close to the University of Missouri’s campus, you have to do some portraits at Francis Quadrangle with Mizzou’s historic Columns and Jesse Hall. Though definitely a very traditional portrait location (check out Tara and Josh’s fall engagement session), the Quad is the perfect place for a bride and groom with a Mizzou connection. We wrapped up portraits at Faurot Field, a place also near and dear to the bride and groom. Tara is a former athletic trainer for the Mizzou Athletic Department and Josh’s family have been longtime football season ticket holders. The stadium is a nice pair to more classic location of the Columns and Jesse Hall. It’s always fun to let the wedding party play around on the field for a bit, after having been so serious for a good part of the day.
We love when our couples know how to throw a party! This reception was one for the books. The night began with Tara’s dad reading a touching poem he had written for her. There were very few dry eyes in the house by the time he finished. You know it’s going to be a good night when the dance floor gets hopping early on and stays busy the whole night through. All in all the reception was filled with love, laughter, and lots of dancing!
Thanks, Tara and Josh, for allowing us to photograph your big day. It was a pleasure to work with you!
Cheers! Piper & Justin
