Our first meeting with Katie and Shawn didn’t happen until their beautiful wedding day in St. Louis, Missouri. And we could not have been more thrilled to work with these two love birds! Our paths crossed initially when Shawn and Katie came across the blog post from Craig and Ericka’s wedding last August. We were honored to photograph their special day. We were thrilled to head back to Bissinger’s Caramel Room in St. Louis.
Our day began at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in downtown St. Louis with the bride and groom. The suite where Katie and her girls got ready in was perfect. It had so much room for everyone to spread out and so much natural light. I love the pictures of Katie’s bridesmaids seeing her for the first time and helping her with her veil! After quickly popping in with Shawn and his groomsmen, we set up for the first look. I don’t think it’s a secret that we’re a fan of when brides and grooms do a first look. And Shawn’s face seeing Katie for the first time is the exact reason why we love a first look!
After the first look, it was off to Forest Park for portraits. We could not have asked for better weather for a spring wedding. We wandered around the park for a bit and then stopped off at The MUNY. I love the architectural details from there. Check out the fantastic art deco chandelier in The MUNY ticket office. We wrapped portraits at Bissinger’s and their gorgeous chair. When your wedding is at the Caramel Room, I don’t think you can’t not take a picture on that love seat of a chair. Those lamps are awesome!
Not only does Bissinger’s Caramel Room have a fabulous space for your reception, their rooftop is also pretty spectacular. The view of the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial bridge spanning the Mississippi River makes for the perfect backdrop for a wedding ceremony. Shawn and Katie’s ceremony was very touching and filled with moments that spoke of their love for one another. These two are some of the first in their group of college friends to get married, so guests were ready to celebrate and party the night away!
After cocktail hour and dinner inside the Caramel Room, we stepped back out on the rooftop to take some sunset portraits of Shawn and Katie. Another awesome aspect of their rooftop is the ability to walk around the roof to take pictures in front of the Bissinger’s sign. Plus, if you walk to the edge of the building you can catch a glimpse of the Gateway Arch peeking through the St. Louis skyline.
The DJ kept the dance floor busy and guests took advantage of our open air photo booth (check out those photos HERE). And guests certainly partied the night away.
Thank you, Katie and Shawn, for letting us be part of your special day. We had such a wonderful time celebrating your wedding day with you both and your loved ones.
Cheers! Piper & Justin
